Part 4: A Broken King, A Deeper Hope
David’s story takes a devastating turn. The shepherd who became king—the one chosen by God to care for God’s people—uses his power to harm those he was called to protect.
In A Broken King, A Deeper Hope, we explore the difficult story of David, Bathsheba, and Uriah in 2 Samuel 11. Scripture does not hide David’s failure. Instead, it forces us to reckon with the brokenness of even Israel’s greatest king and the terrible consequences of power misused.
Yet David’s failure also creates a deeper longing: if even David cannot be the king God’s people need, who can? We will wonder how this painful story turns Israel’s hope beyond David toward a different kind of king—one who will embody God’s justice and mercy without corruption: Jesus, the Son of David.
