Meeting the Prophets
What is a prophet—and what does it mean to hear a prophetic voice?
Before we meet Amos, we begin by exploring the strange and challenging world of the biblical prophets. Prophets were not simply people who predicted the future. Convinced of God’s justice and faithfulness, they learned to recognize what was false and death-dealing, warn where it might lead, and call God’s people back toward life.
In this first session of Amos: Prepare to Meet Your God, we’ll meet some of the prophets of Scripture and learn how to read the vivid poetry, images, questions, and repetition of the prophetic books.
Bring your questions, mark up the Scripture, and wonder with us: What might it mean to listen for a prophetic voice today?
