What is a prophet? Is a prophet someone who predicts the future—or is something much more interesting going on?
Before we meet Amos, we begin by exploring the strange and challenging world of the biblical prophets. We’ll discover people so convinced of God’s justice and faithfulness that they learned to recognize what was false and death-dealing, warn where it might lead, and call God’s people back toward life.
Along the way, we’ll meet some of the prophets of Scripture and begin learning how to read prophetic writing—its poetry, vivid images, repetition, questions, and surprising language.
