The first building was completed in time for the first service May 29, 1966, with dedication September 18 ,1966. The 2nd, current building, was completed in 1990 in readiness for consecration later that year. The 1st service in the current Sanctuary was held Christmas Eve of 1989 without the benefit of the pews and seats.

There are two windows in the church that have special significance. 

Narthex Stained Glass Window

The first stained glass window is located in the narthex. It was presented to St. Mark's by Dr. Honor M. Kidd in memory of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Kidd.

The window was originally created for the Church of the Ascension in Crescent Beach. When St. Mark's new church was built, it was carefully relocated from Crescent Beach and installed in the narthex, where it continues to welcome worshippers and visitors alike.

As a memorial gift, the window serves as both a lasting tribute to Robert and Honor Kidd and a tangible link between the Church of the Ascension and St. Mark's.


It was originally made for the Church of the Ascension in Crescent Beach. It was brought
from Crescent to be placed in the narthex of the new church. 

Chancel Stained Glass Window

The second stained glass window is located in the chancel. It was presented by Mrs. Joan George in memory of her mother, Gladys Burke.

The window reflects the light and mystery of the Holy Trinity through its rich symbolism:

  • The majesty of God is revealed through the beauty of creation.
  • The glory of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is symbolized by the rising sun on Easter morning.
  • The waters of Baptism, through which the Holy Spirit gives new life, are represented by the baptismal font set before a wind-swept sea.

Together, these images proclaim the presence and work of the Triune God in creation, redemption, and new life through the Holy Spirit.
